Hi, I’m Roxie Lubanovic, the creative mind and co-founder behind Frostbeard Studio, the first candle business to cater exclusively to book lovers. Along with my husband Tom, I’ve turned a love of literature and handmade artistry into a thriving business that brings cozy, bookish vibes to readers everywhere.

A Journey of Creativity and Entrepreneurship

• Education: I earned a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art and English Literature from the University of Iowa, blending my love for creativity and storytelling.
• Early Ventures: At just 24, I founded a local artist and farmers market in Minneapolis, MN, showcasing my passion for fostering community and supporting local talent.
• Building Frostbeard:
  • 2012 — Tom and I started Frostbeard Studio as a small pottery business, selling at local markets and events.
  • 2014 — Our shift to book-themed soy candles made us Etsy’s best-selling candle shop.
  • 2015 — We expanded production, launched our website, and began selling in bookstores and gift shops nationwide.
  • 2016 — We had grown enough to purchase our own studio space in South Minneapolis, which houses production, fulfillment, and a charming retail shop filled with bookish goods.

Our Ethos

At Frostbeard, the DIY spirit remains at our core. Every candle is still hand-poured, and we take pride in crafting over 100 unique fragrances, including a new scent every month. Each creation is designed to bring a sense of comfort and inspiration to our fellow book lovers.

Life Beyond Candles

When I’m not creating the next cozy candle scent, I split my time between marketing, copywriting, and creative direction for Frostbeard. I live in Minneapolis with my family, where I enjoy coffee, cats, plants, and travel. Of course, you’ll also find me curled up with a good book—usually surrounded by the comforting aroma of one of our candles.
